In order to participate in SPARK Teacher Training, you’ll need to have a Google account setup for the email address you’ve registered for SPARK Game Jam. If you have a Google account setup already, you can jump to the Hangout. If you don’t have a Google account already setup, go the Account Setup page to get started.
Setting up a Google Account
Once you visit the Account Setup page, you’ll need to click the “Create Account” link that’s below the sign-in window.
This will take you to the sign-up page. From here, you’ll want to click immediately on the link that says “I prefer to use my current email address”. If you don’t click this option, you’ll be creating a new Gmail address. If you’re like us, you have enough emails to deal with already.
Finally, just fill out the form on the right hand side and be sure to use the same email address that you registered for SPARK Game Jam. All invites are sent out to the registered email addresses, so we don’t want you to miss it. If you decide to use a different email account, you can still view the Hangout, but you won’t be able to participate.
Joining the Google Hangout
With your Google account setup, you can go right to the Hangouts page. Make sure that you’re signed in to the correct Google Account (with the email you registered for SPARK) by clicking the icon in the upper right. From here, you should see an invite pending for the SPARK Teacher Training.
Note: If you don’t see this, then the Hangout may not have started yet or the invite may be in the spam folder. Invites are usually sent out 15-30 minutes prior to the Hangout. If you don’t see it within that time, click on the Menu button and click “Invites” to see if it shows up there:
Click on the invitation on the left hand side of the Hangouts window to open it. It should pop up as a message window in the bottom-right corner of your screen:
Click the “Accept” button to accept the invitation to join the Hangout and open the chat window. Once you accept, you can click on the “Video Call from SPARK” link to join the Teacher Training Hangout.
If you have any questions or problems joining, jump into our Slack channel or shoot us an email.
